GoldKey Token

I travel with a company laptop and I was nervous about loosing it and my files getting out on the open. So I picked up a set of GoldKey's about a year ago and they have been great. After I installed it, GoldKey let me setup a "Secure Drive" that cannot be opened without my key. I can drag stuff into it and open things, just like a normal folder. But as soon as I pull the GoldKey out of my USB port, the drive locks and it is protected by strong encryption. It also lets me create secure drives on servers and USB drives -- I use this for all my backups -- and I can right-click on files to encrypt them, which is nice for emailing. They also have a lot of new features coming out that I haven't tested yet. I am glad to see this product on Amazon now.br /br /I got a duplicate set of keys, in case I lose one, but that hasn't been a problem so far since I keep it right with the rest of my normal keys. If we were doing it again though, I would get a GoldKey Master Token since it lets you add more keys later. I can see how this would be good for businesses to share files.br /br /Overall, if you want a very secure and easy way to lock your private files, GoldKey is the best way to do it.

GoldKey Token Feature

  • Secure Drives - GoldKey allow users to create a secure drive on any computer using powerful 256-bit AES encryption. The user can store their private files inside the Secure Drive. To be able to unlock or open a Secure Drive, the correct GoldKey must be present and the correct password must be entered, making the documents inside inaccessible without the GoldKey.
  • Protect Email - GoldKey allows you to send emails with fully encrypted attachments. With a simple right click, you can encrypt a file or folder with GoldKey.
  • Smart Card - Each GoldKey has a Smart Card built-in, making it useful for PKI security applications. The GoldKey internal Smart Card utilizes the PIV (Personal Identity Verification) specification, which is widely deployed in government and is now supported by Mac OS X and Windows 7.
  • Active Directory - GoldKey tokens provide an excellent way to add multi-factor authentication to an Active Directory deployment and can be issued login and email certificates from an AD certificate authority like smart cards.
  • Authentication - The GoldKey may be deployed as a Smart Card authentication token, with at least two factors of authentication required. The GoldKey token must be present, and you must know your GoldKey PIN. This provides a much higher level of security over traditional password-only authentication methods.
The GoldKey Token combines a powerful suite of data encryption tools with a built-in smart card, all of which is contained in one of the smallest security tokens on the market. brbr Using the provided software, users may create a Secure Drive protected by 256-bit AES (military-grade) encryption. Once the GoldKey is removed, all files contained in the Secure Drive are locked. Users may also simply right-click on a file or folder and select 'Encrypt with GoldKey'. brbr Data encrypted by a GoldKey can be stored on many kinds of electronic media including flash drives, DVDs, and network storage servers. GoldKey presents secure data storage, transportation, and backup options, inter compatible with Windows and Mac. brbr The GoldKey internal Smart Card is useful for PKI security applications, such as adding multi-factor authentication to an Active Directory deployment. However, GoldKeys run noticeably faster during login and data signing than traditional smart cards, providing a better user experience. A Master Key is required for loading certificates onto the GoldKey. brbrb Hardened Design/b GoldKey is not your average hardened device. From its stainless steel case to its waterproof epoxy, GoldKey is more durable than your everyday USB token. Inside, the GoldKey is filled with an industrial grade epoxy that not only seals the internal circuitry water tight, but deters tampering and provides added strength. brbrb What if I lose my GoldKey?/b Prevent accidental lock-outs by registering your GoldKey to a Master Key. The Master Key utilizes patented technology to gain immediate access to data encrypted by any of its users, without weakening the security of the implementation. The Master Key may also duplicate GoldKeys and manage user groups for securely sharing files between GoldKey users.

Corrupted data, crashes when using large secured drives - araknyd -
Tried multiple times to create a secured drive on an external USB hard drive. No problem in actually creating the drive, or using it with smaller amounts of stored data. But if I copied larger amounts of data to the drive (for example, about 100GB to a 250GB secured drive), it would result in corrupted data, and no more data could be copied to the drive. br /br /I also had some difficulty installing the device, and it was especially difficult on one XP system that refused to recognize the key. br /br /I'm glad it works perfectly for everyone else who has ever reviewed it. I can use it for small drives with no problem, but I bought this specifically to secure large amounts of data (as it claims to be able to do), and I cannot use it for that purpose.
